Network Issues in UK - Updated 19:30
Posted on 29 September 2014 02:26 PM

Today there have been some issues with connectivity into our UK network. Most of these issues are now solved, however there may still be an issue with some sites hosted on the UK server "Elara" which we are working on.

If you are still seeing any issues, please do not hesitate to contact us.

UPDATE 17.25: We are still working on problems with some sites on Elara. The sites affected are those using the IP Address We are working with our network provider to try to permanently solve this problem.

UPDATE 17.45: We have confirmed that the problem is a denial of service attack against As the attack is against the IP itself and not a specific website, there is no way to tell what website the attack is directed against. In an attempt to get around the problem, we are currently changing the IP address of all sites on that we control the DNS for to Due to the nature of the attack, we can not be sure that this will solve the problem as they may switch to attacking the new IP. For this reason we are not yet making the change permanent and communicating it to customers using other DNS servers as it may need to be changed again at short notice. The websites will continue to listen on as well when the attack can be controlled. We are monitoring what happens after this change to decide what the next step will be.

UPDATE 19:30: All sites are currently working from either IP address. We are monitoring the situation to ensure that this continues.

Emergency Maintenance on UK Servers Ganymede & Io
Posted on 20 August 2014 01:32 PM

To fix some problems located on these servers, we will be performing emergency maintenance on them this afternoon which will require some downtime. We expect this to be less than 20 minutes per server.

Ganymede hosts Helm and SmarterStats in the UK, so these services will be affected whilst it is unavailable.

Io is a Windows 2012 web server, and the downtime will only affect websites that are hosted on that particular server.

Problem on UK Web Server "Metis"
Posted on 01 January 2014 01:30 PM

We are dealing with a hard drive issue on one of the UK Web Servers, Metis. The drive is currently being replaced and we are in the process of transmitting last nights backup back from the off-site backup location.

As soon as more updates are available, we will post them here.

UPDATE: The backup has been restored. As the backup was taken from just before 1am today, only a few hours of changes have been lost as a result of the hard drive failure. We apologise for any inconvenience caused by this.

UPDATE: Most websites are now back online, we are continuing to work on the server to ensure that it is completely back to normal. If you are seeing any issues with sites on Metis, please open a ticket immediately so that we can investigate.

UK Mail Server Maintainance (UPDATED)
Posted on 23 December 2013 10:19 AM

As previously announced, as part of our improvement to services we will be moving the UK mail server onto new upgraded hardware in a few days time. This new hardware will increase the performance of the mail server and give us the capacity needed to deliver our new hosting plans in the new year.

The migration has been scheduled for between midnight and 6am on Tuesday 31st December 2013. It is being done overnight to minimise disruption to customers. We expect the downtime for all mail services during this window to be no more than 2 hours long, likely much less. There will be no changes to any IP addresses or services.
As always, should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us via the support helpdesk at

We would like to wish all of our customers who celebrate it a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

UPDATE: Due to an issue, the migration has been delayed by 24 hours and will now take place between midnight and 6am on Tuesday 31st December, instead of the originally planned Monday 30th December.
